our story:
built for the middle.
a wardrobe mostly gets built for the two ends of a life: weddings and festivals at one end, everyday basics at the other. the middle has no dress code, and that's exactly the problem.
the tuesday lunch, the school run that turns into coffee, the workday that turns into a dinner, the plans that weren't meant to be plans. that middle is most of the week.
damoya is made for it - the mid-stakes occasions, where you want to be dressed, not costumed. not too much for the afternoon. not too little for the evening.
every piece is built to cross over, because the day does too. one dress from the desk to the dinner. one co-ord from the school gate to the airport.
cut on an Indian body block, made to carry their own weight. they say a fit body is an outfit in itself. we'd rather the outfit was the outfit.
the name damoya comes from cour damoye, a narrow, cobbled passage off the busy place de la bastille, a pocket of calm you'd walk straight past! we softened the spelling and kept the feeling.
damoya is that passage, in a wardrobe: the quiet you step into on an ordinary day.
